Who is Melid Hasaj?

My journey began with a dream—and a whole lot of paperwork.

I came to Canada from Albania at a young age, carrying hopes for a better future. Growing up, I watched people I care about face barriers they didn’t deserve: confusing systems, unaffordable services, and silence when they needed answers. That sense of helplessness stayed with me. But it also motivated me and it’s what led me to Law.

After years of hard work, I earned my Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa and became both a barrister and solicitor, called to the Ontario Bar. Today, I don’t just observe injustice, I work every day to help people navigate it with dignity, clarity, and confidence.

At my firm, I focus on immigration and family law because they often go hand in hand—building a life in a new country has real legal and emotional implications for families. From permanent residency to sponsorships, marital agreements, parenting plans, and safety-focused support for survivors of abuse, I provide legal guidance that respects your story and your needs.

But I also support clients in other areas—because real life is never just one file. Whether you need help drafting a will, responding to a criminal charge, reviewing a lease or plea deal, or preparing for a tribunal hearing, I’ll meet you where you are—with practical advice, plain-language explanations, and no judgment.

What matters most to me is accessibility. I believe no one should be penalized just because they can't afford legal help. That’s why I offer flexible pricing, flat-fee services, and payment models that fit YOUR situation. I’m working toward accepting Legal Aid and, when I can’t help, I’ll always try to refer you to someone who can.

Why I Created This Firm

I didn’t create this firm to do things the conventional way—I created it to do them the right way.

I wanted to build a space where people—especially newcomers, families, and working-class clients—could feel heard, supported, and informed. A place where legal education is just as important as legal representation. Where you’re treated as a human being, not a case number.

I believe that the law should serve people, not scare them. That’s why I’ve made affordability a core part of our practice—offering flexible packages, flat-rate consultations, and retainer options that work with your budget. If we can’t help, we’ll refer you to someone who can. No one should be left behind because of money.

I built this practice around the values I live by: clarity over confusion, care over intimidation, and integrity over ego. Every file, every client, and every conversation is a reflection of that.
